Term 2 in 3rd & 4th Class

6th Apr 2026

Another busy and exciting term in 3rd and 4th Class! It has been full of hard work, physical activity, and lots of new skills.

We took a break from reading groups at the beginning of the term and everyone read the novel The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. We enjoyed it so much that our teacher has started reading the sequel, Finding Bear, to us.

As part of our Active Flag initiatives, we took part in the “Active Breaks Challenge.” Each day we completed a different movement break, with videos filmed in various locations around Croke Park. Along the way, we also learned some interesting facts about the stadium.

The PTA organised a fantastic basketball session with Najo from the Lions Basketball team, which we really enjoyed. We also had great fun taking part in tag rugby coaching with Glenn from Leinster Rugby.

We were lucky to work with artist Shauna Heron over a number of weeks. During this time, we explored character design, went on a nature walk, and began creating our own puppets. We’re looking forward to finishing them next term. We also learned how to do French knitting—it was tricky at first, but with practice we improved a lot.

For Seachtain na Gaeilge, we made a big effort to use more Irish throughout the day. Some past pupils returned to perform Irish dancing for us and even taught us a few steps.

This term, we also worked on individual projects. Third Class focused on animals, while Fourth Class could choose any topic. We worked on these both at home and in school, and proudly presented them to the school community at assembly on the last day of term.

We said goodbye to Polina at the beginning of March. We were very sad to see her go, but we’re delighted to hear that she is settling well into her new school and has already made new friends.

We’re all looking forward to more fun and learning next term!
